Build with the border engine
An API, webhooks and a hosted MCP server for AI agents, on the same engine that checks every order.

What you can build
- Border estimates. What goods will cost at the Canada and US border by parcel or freight, who pays under each Incoterm, and how the charges changed over the past year.
- Order checks. Send an order and get back release, hold or block, checked against the store owner's own limits, with every route priced.
- Events. Your system hears when an order is held, approved or blocked, or when a border change affects your products.
- AI agents. Any MCP client can connect to
https://app.othermile.com/mcpfor border estimates and the rules in force. Add an API key for order checks.
Store owners never need this part: their stores, printers and marketplaces connect from the app in a few clicks.
Get started
- Create a free account at app.othermile.com.
- In the app, open Developers and create an API key. You see it once.
- Send the key as a Bearer token. Amounts are in cents.
What will a C$35 shirt cost at the door in Alberta if it comes by mail?
curl https://app.othermile.com/v1/border/quote \
-H "authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" -H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"from":"US","to":"CA","toRegion":"AB","mode":"mail",
"items":[{"sku":"TEE","hs":"6109.10","origin":"HN","qty":1,
"unitValue":{"value":3500,"currency":"CAD"}}]}'
The answer lists each charge (duty, tax and fees), the total, who pays it, and which version of the rules it used.
The full reference
Every call is in the API reference. In the app under Developers you also get your API keys, webhooks and a playground to try requests. Questions: write to [email protected].
Every figure is an estimate from official government data, not customs advice.
