US import bans on some Canadian products start September 29
Beer, wine, spirits, whey protein, molasses and motorcycles from Canada are barred from entering the US from September 29. Here is what it means for online orders.
From September 29, 2026, the United States bars certain Canadian products from entering at all. Reported product groups include beer, non alcoholic beer, wine, spirits, whey protein, molasses and motorcycles.
A ban is different from a tariff. There is no rate to pay: the parcel is refused at the border, and the order is lost along with the shipping cost.
What to do: if you sell any of these products to US customers, pause those listings for US addresses now. Othermile blocks orders with banned items automatically once the product is in your catalogue, and the free checker shows a ban for any product you test.
We will update this post when the list changes.
